ICL’s Global Volunteer Week was conceived, planned and implemented by the Company’s Global Social Responsibility Committee, that includes representatives from ICL’s facilities throughout the world. During the week, ICL employees were involved in a variety of communal activities, including clean up of parks and beaches, supporting the elderly and at-risk populations, renovating and refurbishing communal schools and other structures, assisting at animal shelters and many others. See full details below of activities conducted by each ICL site and regions in the interactive map to the right.
ICL Employees Make an Impact in Their Communities
The events held during the Company’s Global Volunteer Week were a unique experience, for both ICL’s employees and the communities in which ICL sites are located around the world. They complemented and highlighted the impact that ICL employees have on the community during their regular volunteer activities throughout the year. The company considers this first-time initiative as highly successful, and plans to repeat it as an annual event. One of the signs of this success was the sharp increase in other volunteer activities after the global effort concluded – including by many employees who were not previously interested in organized volunteering activities by the company.
The combined effect resulted in a very significant increase in ICL’s volunteering rates. In 2018, most ICL’s organized volunteering activities were held in Israel, and only 5% of the global ICL workforce participated in any volunteering, averaging 1.5 annual volunteering hours per global employee.
In 2019, however, 32% of the global workforce participated in volunteering activities, resulting in 4.2 annual volunteering hours per global employee.
ICL and its employees will continue to further expand these unique, global activities, in order to strengthen the contribution to our respective communities.
